Contact Sheet: Olympus XA – Montreal, QC
I thought this roll was lost forever. It was dropped at USPS on Wednesday, June 17, and I didn’t get a notification from The Darkroom until Friday, July 3.
The plan was to use the local shop, but I was put off when I went in to drop off the roll. First, they wanted me to log in to my account. Not my print account because that’s separate. So, I would need to create a new account to develop. When I scoffed, the employee said, “You just want to give it someone, have them log it, and leave.” Exactly. Call me when it’s ready. That’s how Central Camera operated. How hard is that? My next mistake was asking, “How long is the turn around ?” I was told 9 days. Huh, “So where do you send it?” He said, “About 20 feet behind you.” That’s when I walked out and decided to send it to LA.
Lesson learned. I guess I will use the local shop moving forward. At least I know my film is somewhere in their store, rather than a USPS sorting facility west of the Mississippi.
You can see, I haven’t mastered the focus on the camera. Some are tack sharp, but others not so much. The exposure isn’t bad, with the highlights a little over exposed. I need to be a bit more careful and even slower with the next roll. This camera is still a dream to shoot with. Hell, it’s fits perfectly in my pocket. Can’t ask for much more.
