Dropped

I was dropped on the 2nd hill. Rolling out, I felt good, but we opened with a steep climb, and I never recovered. Once I was dropped I was resigned to riding alone.

I soaked in the landscape, then I saw Chuck had turned back, and we ended up riding together for the majority of the ride. He skipped out on the last few miles, due to a nagging back.

I realized I wasn’t riding my ride, but someone else’s. And when I do that, I don’t have fun, and start to play the blame game. Once I settled into my pace on the straights and especially the climbs, I was able to enjoy the ride.

It was great to be back on the bike, and this is a ride I would do again. But at my pace from the start.
